Privacy Lawyers - Baseline Clearance
Initial 3-6 month contract with the possibility of extension
The Roles
We have multiple clients seeking Privacy (Data and/or AI) Lawyers to support teams within high profile Commonwealth departments in assisting with implementing best practice with regard to privacy and governance frameworks and AI implementation.
The Responsibilities
The position requires thesuccessful candidate to provide legal advice on the following areas:
- advising on data‑sharing arrangements and governance frameworks;
- interpreting and applying Commonwealth privacy, secrecy, and information‑handling provisions;
- supporting Privacy Threshold and Impact Assessments (PIAs), including identifying risks and recommending mitigation strategies;
- drafting and reviewing legal documents, including public interest certificates; and/or
- depending on the specific AI use case, the secondee may also be required to provide advice on automated decision-making (ADM) issues.
The Requirements
The successful candidate must have outstanding stakeholder engagement, coordination and analysis skills witha demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively within a smallteam environment, with a focus on quality service delivery to internal clients across a range of matters.
Candidates will need to have experience in data-sharing initiatives and/or the adoption of AI use cases within a Commonwealth setting and information and communications technology(ICT) law.
Expertise in the Australian Privacy Principles and experience in governance frameworks and/or conducting reviews of projects involving personal information is essential.
Legal qualifications, acurrent practicing certificate and a Baseline Clearance are essential.
